Residential Locksmith in Sacramento

You need work done on the locks at a house or apartment. Call (916) 244-3934.

Licensed, insured and bonded. California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services License No. LCO 6830. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Proof of ownership is required before any lock is opened.

Most residential work is one of three things: you have moved in and do not know who else holds a key, a lock has stopped working properly, or you are upgrading after a scare.

What the job involves

  • Rekeying existing deadbolts and knob sets so every previous key stops working
  • Supplying and fitting deadbolts, entry sets and high-security cylinders
  • Repairing locks that stick, drag or no longer align with the strike plate
  • Window, cabinet, mailbox and sliding-door locks
  • Repair and re-securing after a break-in, including the door frame and strike

What to have ready when you call

  • Which doors are affected and roughly how many locks are involved
  • Whether you want the same key to work every door
  • The brand stamped on the lock face if you can see it
  • Proof that the property is yours or that you rent it

Honest limits

A lock that has been forced, or a door that has dropped on its hinges, is a carpentry problem as much as a lock problem. If the frame is damaged the lock will keep binding until the frame is put right.

Common questions

Should I rekey or change the locks after moving in?

Rekeying is usually enough and costs less: it retires every key that existed before while keeping the hardware you already own. Replacing makes sense if the lock is worn, damaged or being upgraded.

Can all my doors use one key?

Yes, provided the locks are compatible. Keying alike is a normal part of a rekey visit.

Do I need proof the house is mine?

Yes. Identification and something tying you to the address is required before any lock is opened or changed.
