Lock Repair in Sacramento

The lock still exists but no longer works properly. Call (916) 244-3934.

Licensed, insured and bonded. California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services License No. LCO 6830. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Proof of ownership is required before any lock is opened.

Locks rarely fail without warning. Stiffness, a handle that has begun to droop, or a door you have to lean on to lock are all early notice.

What the job involves

  • Freeing cylinders that stick or bind
  • Re-aligning latches and strike plates on doors that have settled
  • Tightening or replacing worn handles and spindles
  • Servicing and lubricating with the correct product
  • Replacing what has genuinely reached the end of its life

What to have ready when you call

  • Which door, and what exactly it does wrong
  • How long it has been getting worse
  • Whether anything was recently forced
  • Proof of ownership

Honest limits

Household oil is the most common cause of a seized lock we see. It attracts dust and sets into a paste. A dry lubricant is what a cylinder wants.

Common questions

My door only locks if I lift it. Why?

The door has usually dropped on its hinges or the frame has moved, so the latch no longer meets the strike squarely. That is an alignment fix, not a lock fault.

Can I spray oil in the lock?

Better not to. Oil collects grit and eventually seizes the cylinder. A dry graphite or PTFE lubricant is appropriate.

Is repair cheaper than replacement?

Often, but not always. Once a cylinder is badly worn, replacement is the more honest answer.
